Bakery Manager
The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the bakery. This role involves managing staff, ensuring the quality and consistency of baked goods, maintaining inventory levels, and delivering excellent customer service. The Bakery Manager will also be responsible for budgeting, ordering supplies, and implementing health and safety regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
1. • Responsible for the continuous direction of the daily operation of the Bakery
• Ensures proper staffing of assigned settings through direct responsibility for employee selection, scheduling, supervision, coaching, evaluation, and, when necessary, disciplinary actions up to and including termination.
• Motivates and inspires staff and promotes teamwork through effective and ongoing communication, recognition, mentoring, and leadership of regular staff meetings.
• Assures staff receive training as required and as needed in order to be successful.
2. Operations Management
• Oversee the daily operations of the bakery, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
• Schedule and supervise bakery staff, including bakers, clerks, and support personnel.
• Ensure the bakery is clean, organized, and meets all health and safety standards.
• Be available to work outside of the normal schedule to support operations, provide coverage during staffing shortages, and respond to operational needs.
3. Quality Control
• Maintain high standards for the quality and consistency of baked goods.
• Conduct regular taste tests and quality checks.
• Implement and oversee standard operating procedures (SOPs) for baking and decorating.
4. Inventory Management
• Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies.
• Place orders with suppliers and manage relationships with vendors.
• Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste, spoilage, and other shrinkage.
5. Financial Management
• Develop and manage the bakery’s budget.
• Monitor sales and expenses, aiming to achieve financial targets.
• Implement cost control measures to maximize profitability.
6. Menu Development
• Collaborate with bakers and pastry chefs to develop new recipes and products.
• Ensure the menu reflects customer preferences and seasonal trends.
• Manage pricing strategies for all baked goods.
7. Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to food safety and health standards.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
8. Other Duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Basic Qualifications:
The Bakery Manager must be at least 18 years of age.
The Bakery Manager must hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
The Bakery Manager requires successful completion of a credit check, criminal background check, and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) within company guidelines to be eligible for employment.
The Bakery Manager must possess an Associate’s degree in hospitality management, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or have equivalent experience and education.
